CMAA Conference

Artificial Intelligence (AI), the latest tech buzz topic, has tremendous potential to benefit our projects, but it needs to have a practical and pragmatic application to real-world project challenges. There is a subset of AI-related technologies known as Augmented Intelligence where our project controls team can be assisted by AI rather than replaced by it. Effective implementations of AI can help add realism to our plans and risk models and allow us to capture information in new, faster, and more accurate ways. Discover how we can leverage AI guidance in project controls while benefiting from the most powerful and meaningful information an organization has to offer - expert team opinion and stored knowledge. Learn how the combination of Artificial and Human Intelligence can result in reliable plans, faster.

AACE International Southern California Section Meeting

Are you tired of building plans the same way for the last 20 years? Artificial Intelligence is reinventing the way we plan. The days of the tedious, manual process that defines developing a CPM project schedule are numbered. Organizations are adopting and implementing AI techniques to quickly build plans, rather than starting from scratch every time, enabling planners to focus on planning instead of scheduling.

This presentation walks through the basics of AI, examining the different approaches and how we should implement them to advance the science of project scheduling. Learn how AI can help us develop project plans that are more realistic and achievable, calibrated with historical project knowledge and validated through team member expertise.

An Investment in Knowledge Pays the Best Interest

Every project has a story to tell, and that story should benefit future projects. People regularly theorize about the value of “lessons learned” and “archiving” project experiences. The truth is, this rarely gets done on real projects. So, why don’t we do a better job of leveraging these experiences? Too often it’s because the effort associated with capturing and reusing knowledge is overwhelming.

BASIS has changed that. Store historical as-built CPM schedules, project cost estimates, project risk registers, and productivity rates in the BASIS Knowledge Library. As the lead planner, have confidence that BASIS suggestions from your Knowledge Library lead to a better, more achievable plan. Combine these advanced AI techniques with the ability to incorporate the expertise of your team (e.g., discipline leads), and achieve a realistic plan with BASIS that reflects your historical experiences and is validated by the team executing the work.

Breaking 3 Bad Planning Habits with BASIS

There are so many opportunities to make planning better, and yet advancements in technologies that actually drive plan realism are nonexistent, until now. BASIS is at the forefront of a planning revolution. Join this webinar and learn about 3 bad planning habits BASIS breaks:

•Planning in the Dark – We have mountains of data and history but no means to effectively use it for planning.
•Missing Expertise – Building a plan absent the opinion of our expert team.
•Relying on Antiquated Manual Processes – Consolidating team feedback and analyzing its impact on plan realism is impossible...until now.

How AI can add 'Realism' to your Risk Model

One of the biggest challenges in developing a realistic schedule risk model is obtaining true inputs from the project team. The perfectly balanced combination of AI and HI (Human Intelligence) within BASIS enables project teams to obtain more accurate inputs that can be applied to risk models in existing risk analysis tools such as Acumen Risk and PRA. BASIS’ AI benchmarking capabilities guides a project team through calibrating durations (and uncertainty ranges) and makes intelligent suggestions on common risks that should be considered based on the scope of work. Team members then have the opportunity to record their expert opinion as to whether they accept planned durations or not, which is then used to automatically drive consensus and uncertainty ranges.
